Hough Green is an attractive residential area within walking distance of Chester City Centre. Victorian and Edwardian detached and semi-detached houses dating from the mid 1800s and early 1900s stand alongside more modern developments. The area is well served with health, educational and leisure amenities.

The Hough Green Residents’ Association was formed in 1987 following concern by private residents in Hough Green at the increase in commercial development in the road and in recognition of the need to create an organisation to represent their views.

It is the aim of the Association promote the interests of the residents of the Hough Green area in a common effort to maintain and improve the environment for the residents of the area. In doing so, it retains the desire of our forefathers to be an imposing entrance to the City of Chester from North Wales and to continue to be “a salubrious and healthy area”.

The area covered by the Association was initially the length of the road from St. Mark’s Church to the Overleigh Roundabout but it was subsequently extended to roads leading off Hough Green, i.e. Glan Aber Park, Woodlands Road, Lansdowne Grove, Cavendish Road, Westminster Avenue, Howe Road, a short part of Cliveden Road and Selkirk Drive.

We continue to monitor and comment on all planning applications affecting the lives of our residents. On the social side, we provide two events each year, a Quiz Night and a Garden Party.
